Day Trips. Everyone enjoys the opportunity to get away and explore what is outside their own neighborhood or sometimes re-visit familiar surroundings.

The shops on the historical downtown square in Liberty will make for an enjoyable excursion either on your way to or from Quiet Moments.

Aggieal's Attic Vintage Boutique, next door to Quiet Moments offers unique gift items from days gone by, Items from jewelry, clothes, and furniture allows one a visit to the past. Many upscale, locally owned specialty shops can be found on the square. These include clothing boutiques, home decor, such as Crybaby Farm Gifts & Design and to add a touch of country warmth to your home, visit Coming Home. Any and all fine jewelry needs can be met by visiting The Polished Edge or Whiteside Jewelry. All these shops are within walking distance of Quiet Moments.

If you find yourself needing a bit of nourishment you are in luck, as the there are several unique non-chain restaurant choices, ranging from Mexican food at Los Compas, and Sorella's for delicious deli sandwiches, while Ginger Sue's offers an array of fresh breakfast dishes such as a delightful crab omelet, sandwiches , such as a wonderful tuna salad with sprouts and a club wrap that is big enough to share. Crepes on the Square is a little specialty cafe offering crepes, sandwiches, soups and salads for lunch or dinner. If you have a craving for something sweet then a visit to Classy Chocolate is in order. Who can resist a chocolate dipped chocolate chip cookie or a chocolate dipped strawberry? In the summer months, By the Scoop offers smoothies and ice-cream delights. Just Desserts by Gary, a bakery & pastry shop is the newest addition to the square and what a fabulous addition it is. One must stop and enjoy a slice of cheesecake, flourless chocolate torte, a napoleon or one of their gourmet brownies. They of course offer many other delectable goodies to tempt you, so relax with a hot beverage and then take a treat home for the family, all in all the perfect way to end your day on the square, or better yet, start your day.

If an old fashioned tea party sounds inviting then just a few blocks off the square at 124 South Terrace Drive is Anna Marie's Tea Time Inn. Ann Marie's offers tea events with each party featuring its own theme with carefully selected food and decor. History buffs may want to visit the Jesse James Bank Museum, Historic Liberty Jail Museum or Clay County Museum & Historical Society. There is also a self guided architectural tour of historic neighborhoods the first Saturday of the month, April-October. The Farmer's Market on the square offers a variety of homegrown fruits and veggies, May-September.

A wonderful way to relax and de-stress is to connect with nature. The Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary offers a peaceful respite from mind chatter. Quiet Moments is just about 20 minutes from Watkins Mill State Park, where you can enjoy a relaxing stroll or bike ride around the lake. You can also visit the Woolen Mill and other buildings on the property from the 1860's. Watkins Woolen Mill is America's only surviving 1860's woolen mill. They have also have various festivals throughout the year.

Jesse James Farm is also just up the road on I-35 just outside of Kearney, Missouri. Tours are available.

The Elms Resort in Excelsior Springs, Missouri is also 20 minutes away. You can enjoy a restful evening at this out of the way historic hotel, perhaps enjoying a soak in a hot tub under the evening stars. The Wabash Barbeque serves up some of the best barbeque in Kansas City and in the summer on scheduled Saturday evenings, the sound of live blues music can be enjoyed from their outdoor blues garden. For a unique shopping experience explore The Olde English Garden Shoppe, Redmond's, or The Wooden Spool . While in Excelsior Springs visit the Hall of Waters and take in the beauty of its art deco architecture.
